The Management Board

The management board manages the ongoing operational businesses of the foundation. It selects the non-profit funding projects and represents the foundation in the context of public relations. It represents the foundation in and out of court.

The board of the German Foundation for the Chronically Ill consists of the following members:

Dr Thomas M. Helms

Dr Helms is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology with many years of clinical experience. Since 1998, he has led the Peri Cor working group for Cardiology which is involved in clinical electrophysiology and invasive cardiology and conducts clinical and experimental research, offers education, training, and consulting in healthcare. He is a member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the International Medical Science Academy (IMSA) and the German Society for Cardiology, Cardiovascular Research (DGK), in which he is the spokesman for the eCardiology Committee "Society and Politics "as well as a member of the telemonitoring working group (AG 33). He is also a member of the Digital Medicine Commission and a member of the Task Force m-Health of the German Society for Internal Medicine (DGIM).

Horst Ohlmann

Mr Ohlmann has been working as a lawyer since 1986. He is a senior partner of the law firm Preißler Ohlmann & Partner, Fürth. The focus of his work is foundational civil and foundation tax law. He has worked for many years as a consultant in the area of the law of non-profit corporations and, among other things, supervised the "Foundation for Prevention and Health Promotion" as an appraiser for the Federal Ministry of Health. Since August 2001 he is chairman of the board of the German Foundation Trust (Deutsche Stiftungstreuhand AG).
